Sorry I've been awal folks...a lot to tend to right now and I'll be honest. Appleseed is going to have to take a break for awhile.

Not much money in jewelry making right now, so I think I'll pick it back up around Christmas time when things get a bit busier...so I might not be around as much over here.

But!

Make Your Own Re-usable Swiffers!

So I shared this over at SSB awhile ago and recently thought...why in the world did I not post it over here too??? Blonde moment...

Here's Jack cleaning...he's so sweet!

So here it is...your very own, hand made re-usable swiffer pads. Better for the environment and your wallet...no more pricey refills!!!

What you need:
micro-fiber rags (I got a 2 pack at the $1 store for..well, $1.)
sewing machine
swiffer broom for measurement reference
scissors, thread, etc.

Step 1: Get a measurement by using the swiffer broom.

The rags I bought were a perfect square! Yeah! So I just cut right down the middle.

Step 2: Sew up the raw edge in a zig zag.


Step 3: Repeat with your other rags and all done!

Four re-usable swiffer pads hand made by you!
Well done!

Thrifty Refashions

I've been doing a few thrifty refashions lately and am wanting to share...hmmmm, what do you think?

Feature...? Anybody...?

So, yeah...its been a really hectic couple of weeks. This time of year is always crazy though, you'd think I'd be used to it.

All through May its nothing but birthdays, birthdays, birthdays. There are so many, I can't even attend them all. And it continues all through June and July too! June 1st is my birthday (I'll be 24, er, 28) Sigh...

Then we have my wedding anniversary on June 3rd and my youngest will turn 1 on the 22nd. Then 4th of July...the list goes on!

Not to mention, I'm starting an in-home childcare center. Yup. Super busy.

But anyhoo, on to my point!!!
I wanna feature somebody! I got ahead in blogland because people were kind enough to feature me...either a project I did or they hosted a giveaway...all that jazz. My Creative Side...this is a SHOWER!

Well, I'm kinda bummed that no one is really interested in the big sale going on...(sad face)

Tips n' Tidbits-Say NO to Static!!

Hi all,

Got this great tip from Songberries...and who does not have this problem? I practically swore off wearing skirts for this reason.

So to prevent static buildup in your clothing, take some hand lotion, rub into your hands and then apply to your legs, rump, or where ever...she swears by it!



Darn it...now I'm gonna have to start pulling out my skirts and shave my legs...LOL!

Tips n' Tidbits-Easy Cleaning Tips

Have company coming over unexpectedly?? Spruce up the most popular rooms in your home quickly and effectively! Here are a few minute cleaning tips I have discovered...get your home looking clean in under 15 minutes...maybe less!

10 second Bathroom Haul:

1. Close the toilet lid
2. Pull the shower curtain closed
3. Clear the counter of clutter
4. Put a full roll of t.p. on the holder
5. Light a candle!
6. Open the shades to the window a little (natural light does wonders)

10 minute Kitchen Haul:

1. Clear counter of clutter
2. Clear the sink and stove of dishes
3. Remove magnets from the front of your fridge
4. Brew some coffee (smells good and you can offer it to your guests)
5. Light a candle!
6. Dim the lighting (only use your under-cabinet lighting if you have it or just use the stove light)

2 minute Den or Living Room Haul:

1. Clear toys, baby gear, etc. from the room
2. Add a throw and a few pillows to the couch or chairs
3. Turn off the TV and play some soft music
4. Febreeze your furniture and carpet for a fresh, clean scent
5. Dim the lighting by using just a few lamps
6. Light a candle!

With that, your home looks clean, organized, and inviting!

Tips n' Tidbits-Cheesy Baked Pasta

This is a real crowd pleaser! Kids love it and it produces plenty of left overs for later on in the week!

Cheesy Baked Pasta


This is a three part recipe: meat sauce, white cheese sauce, and baked pasta. An inexpensive recipe that has delicious results!!

2 cups pasta sauce
1 pound ground beef; optional (can substitute turkey)
3 cups macaroni or ziti pasta
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
grated nutmeg to taste
salt/pepper to taste
1 tbsp Italian seasoning


Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Fill large stock pot up to 2/3 full and bring to boil. Brown ground meat in skillet; add salt/pepper to taste. When water is at a rolling boil, add pasta. While meat is browning and pasta cooking, put cream in a sauce pan over med heat. Shred cheddar and mozzarella cheeses and set aside. Add pasta sauce to ground meat to heat through. Once cream is at a slight simmer, add half of the shredded cheeses. Stir to thicken and melt cheese. Add freshly grated nutmeg, pepper, and Italian seasoning to cheese sauce. Check pasta, strain and add to meat sauce. Pour pasta and meat sauce into a 2 qt baking dish. Pour cheese sauce over the pasta; no need to mix in. Top with the remaining cheese and bake for 15-20 minutes until warmed through and the cheese is golden on top. Serve with salad.

Wall Decor Tip from Everything That Is Nice!

Hi all,

Check this out...found this at Everything That Is Nice. We've all heard this idea, but here is another great look to go for.





















I've heard of fabric in frames, but never thought of wallpaper...hmmm. I really love some of the great wallpaper patterns you can find these days, but absolutely dread the thought of putting it up in the house...plus, my husband pretty much vetoed wallpaper whenever we bought our house. So this might be a great alternative!

And the the idea to look for frames at the thrift store? That's right up my alley. Thanks for the great tip!

Applecider Vinegar-the Cure All for Dogs, Cats, and more...

Hi all,

Its been awhile since I posted a good tip, so I thought I'd share this one that I recently discovered.

My poor dog Lily had a rotten bladder infection, I decided to do a little research about what we could do for her before making her go to the vet (she hates it)! Just about everything I read included this one item...Apple cider vinegar!



Apparently, it is the go-to, cure-all for just about any ailment from bladder and kidney infections to fleas. Just a little splash in her water and her infection should clear up...I thought why not. And let me clarify, I called the vet and he said it was perfectly safe and we could try it before bringing her in.

Well, it worked! She's healthy as could be now! Super cost effective too as this one gallon jug costs only $3 at my local grocery store! Whats more? Her fur is so soft (like she just had a bath), her dry skin is much healthier (she also has skin allergies), no more hot spots (typical in Texas weather), and we've noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference in the bugs!
